Day 4 - Your Parents

I had to think if I really wanted to post this, but for my faithful readers (all 5 of you guys) I figured the beat must go on.

Day 4 of the blogging challenge is about your parents. Lela Fields and Craig Henderson I were lucky enough to have a wonderful, handsome, and talented son on December 12, 1985.

My Mother Lela is the biggest inspiration in my life! I watched her my whole life sacrifice so much so I could have a good child hood. She worked 2 jobs and sometimes 7 days a week just to make ends meet. She never complained about having to do it all by herself and for that strength she showed I am very grateful. I think God blessed me with the strongest mother a boy could have, she taught me how to be a man without my father really being around much. She kept me in sports because she knew that was my avenue to stay out of trouble and to one day make something of myself. Now that I am grown I'm sad because I know my mom will soon move back home to Tennessee and I won't be bale to see her but a few times a year but above all I want her to be happy and now that she sees I am doing well for myself I think she finally is.

My father is also an inspiration in my life. I've watched my father make every mistake a man could make in a life. My number 1 goal in life is to be NOTHING like my Father! My father and I are kind of close but its more like he is an older friend not really a dad. While I was growing up my father was heavy into drugs, I could share a million stories that would almost make you want to cry, but I will share only one. When I was in 4th grade the neighborhood drug dealer lived down the street from my Grandma and where my dad was staying, and his children always told me how my dad was there spending all his money on drugs (instead of on his 3 kids). This used to hurt me but I shook it off, but one day I was getting ready for school and I couldn't find my new shoes my mom just bought me (Ken Griffey Jr Shoes) come to find out he took them down the street and you guessed it sold them! So needless to say I was pissed and my mom was steaming mad! This is just one of the many instances I could draw on, but let me continue. When I got to high school I had a lot of trouble dealing with him and I wanted nothing to do with him or his new family (his wife is a whole different story). but after I prayed about it I decided I can't take my anger for him out on my little brothers and sister and it does say in the Bible honor thy mother and father.

So those are my parents! Hope u enjoyed reading this!!

Day 3 First Love

OK after the Thanksgiving break I am back and I am ready to get back to the blogging!!

OK so day 3 is about your first love! If you know me you know I have been with my girlfriend Adriane for 5 years and she is the love of my life and I can truly say I'm in love with her! But my first love is something different!!

Without question I can say my first love is the sport of football!! I can say football has done so much for me in my life. Football helped me get my diabetes in control, Football allowed me to go to get a higher education, Football allows me to help children stay out of trouble and go to school now, and without a doubt I can say football saved my life.

When I was younger growing up in my neighborhood I, like many other kids from the hood, saw a lot of the other people from my neighborhood get money and nice cars from "being involved in bad activities" and I wanted to do that 2, but my best friend saw my potential in football and talked me into focusing on school and sports and I did. In high school he was shot and killed over his car and because of him and football I made it to college and graduated!!!

So there is my first love football!! I wish I could still play but being able to coach is still a blessing!!

Day 2 - The Meaning Behind Your Blog Name

So day 2 (really 3 but I wasn't writing anything on thanksgiving) you are supposed to write the meaning of your blog.

Anyone who knows me, knows I love Sports and Music and my favorite artist of all time Jay-Z, and in the beginning of my favorite and his best CD, The Blueprint, he says "It's just my thoughts, right or wrong it's just how I'm feeling at the time" And I couldn't think of a better way to title my blog. When I finish my 30 day challenge you will see I will talk A LOT about sports and with most sports talk it's going to be all my opinions and like Jay said right or wrong it's just how I am feeling at the time!

Speaking of Jay-Z, I got the opportunity to see him in concert twice over the last 2 years and I can't lie it was epic!!

Well that is the meaning of my blog sorry so short (isn't that something girls wrote on notes in middle school?) but its nothing to much to say.

Athletes are NOT perfect

Ok first before I start I want to say I do not agree with what Tiger Woods or Mike Vick did!!!

With that said everyone get off there athletes backs. Who are we to judge then for what they did. What Tiger did was a terrible thing and for him to violate the beauty of his marriage is awful, but he doesn't owe ANYONE an apology but his wife. I', so tired of hearing press, fellow golfers, and so called friends throwing Tiger under the bus. Truth be told the golf world should be trying to help Tiger as best they can because everyone knows he is the saving grace of the PGA tour. I have even seen the Tiger story on CNN I mean come on you guys dont have anything better to report than the fact Tiger Woods went to a rehab clinic. I feel about this story the same way I feel about steroids in baseball, I DON'T CARE ANYMORE MOVE ON!!! The best thing for Tiger now is to win a few PGA tour tournaments and the world will forget all about this. Take A-Rod for example I bet a lot of people forgot his steroids admittance once he led the yankees to a world series. This shows just how fickle our society is and how much it is a "What have you done for me lately" generation no loyalty what so ever!!

And in the case of Mike Vick I am a huge dog lover and I own a pit bull so I was deeply hurt by what he did. But you know what who am I to condemn the man for his mistakes? This man got 23 months in Jail for funding a dog fighting ring and there are people in this world who get convicted or murdering another human being and they get less than a year in jail??? Makes NO SENSE TO ME AND IT NEVER WILL. Regardless of what he did in the past, I still cheer for Vick to not only turn his life around but to shut up all the people who just bad mouth him!!

I understand because they are in the public light athletes are held to a higher standard and are expected to hold that standard, which I agree with because like it or not they are children's role model, but we have to remember they are human too and will make mistakes. And parents if you are tired of your kids being influenced by the "bad athletes' become a bigger part in their life so they will look up to you!! Because even though I played football my whole life and know the sport like the back of my hand my mother has been and always will be my biggest role model!! So when they do it angers me to hear people say oh well "Mike Vick shouldn't be allowed to play in the NFL anymore" those people sound just stupid to me and hey if you don't agree with me just read my blogs tag line "Just my thoughts, right or wrong, just how I am feeling at the time." Fairweather fans

Super Bowl 44 didn’t end like I wanted it to and my Colts dropped a tough one against a very good saints team. Now I could get into what went wrong and what could have been better, but what really has me upset is the fair-weather fanness going on right now.

I HATE FAIRWEATHER FANS, I repeat I HATE FAIRWEATHER FANS!!!!
The people who just hate the Colts now all of a sudden they are screaming who dat, ummm Im pretty sure you couldn’t name 5 players on the Saints team, you are just mad that we either A. Beat your team B. are better than your team C. Made it further than your team or D. All the above. Now if you are just rooting against the Colts that’s fine, but don’t all of a sudden act like you love the Saints umm no you are a Chargers fan not a Saints, Baltimore, and Jets fan.

I also hate the people who are acting like the Colts are the worst team ever because we lost one game, like 2 weeks ago when we beat the Jets you were all “I bleed blue and go colts” now you are talking about you are done with Colts? I mean come on, The Saints flat out beat us that does not mean the Colts are a bad team and even if we were a bad team have some loyalty. I was a fan back when if we won 8 games that was a great season!!!!

Here is my advice for ALL fair-weather fans KILL YOUR SELF!!! Go find the nearest bridge, tall building, cliff, canyon, Ocean with Sharks, Lake with piranhas, or a river with crocodiles and JUMP!!! Sports fans need to have some loyalty, like those TRUE saints fans who marched after every win, back in the days when they only won 4 games that’s the kind of sports loyalty I love!!!!! I still love my Colts and I still love my Pacers (Lord knows we are going through some things right now though)!! I will always bleed Colts Blue, Pacers Gold, and Purdue and WC old gold!!

Why are pro athletes so stupid?

So, today the NBA levied full season suspensions for Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton (although Arenas may be spending some time in jail) and this made me wonder why are professional athletes so stupid?

I just don’t understand for the life of me how they can just throw millions of dollars down the drain. Take Adam “Pacman” Jones, he was one the best returners in the NFL and a very good corner, but he couldn’t stay out of strip clubs. Like if it’s that deep Pacman hire strippers to come to your house that way no one can “Hate” on you in the club.

I mean I know these athletes are only human, but they are held to a higher standard because they are in the public eye and make a whole lot of money.
I will never understand the desire to carry guns, drive drunk, fight dogs, fight in strip clubs, and the other dumb stuff they do. I mean when you are that rich and famous you are bound to have a few people who don’t like you and will try you when you’re out at the club. Knowing this…why are you on the dance floor with everyone like an idiot
Ok I’m done ranting, but pro athletes please do better.
